“A school where every person belongs. A school where every person matters. A school which values learning and positive attitudes. A school which rises to challenges and celebrates achievement. A school which aims to provide opportunities for everyone to reach their full potential”
We are a friendly, caring school which maintains a distinctive community and family feel. We encourage pupils to be confident, independent and curious learners and strive to facilitate their journey to adult life.
At Victoria Road Primary and Nursery School, we promote children’s learning, development and achievement, hoping to instil a lifelong love and engagement with learning. In our Vision, every child is valued and respected. We want all learners to benefit from high standards of teaching which support this achievement, stimulate creativity through new ideas and concepts, and promote wellbeing. Our Curriculum has been developed to enable children to experience a rich, diverse and stimulating curriculum which enables them to succeed and thrive in a just and sustainable world. Children have a right to enjoy authentic learning opportunities, achieve and take an active part in their own learning. Teachers and support staff have a right to teach and feel job satisfaction, and strive to ignite the children’s passion for learning and enhance their ability and motivation to contribute as citizens in the community.
Our curriculum is inclusive to all, with social, moral, spiritual and cultural development being a thread that weaves through all areas of the curriculum.
We aim to work mutually with parents and carers to meet a child’s distinct needs. The Local Governing Body works effectively as a strategic “critical friend”, both supporting and challenging school policy, practice and improvements. Victoria Road works with Barnardo’s Children’s Centre and other Agencies such as Health Visitors, CAMHs and Midwives. We joined The Horizon Multi Academy Trust in September 2018
